Position Summary:
We are seeking an expereinced Substation Technician/Foreman to direct the performance of technical services and maintenance procedures and ensure the proper and efficient operation of substation equipment and equipment control units. This position is available in Crittenden, KY, apprximately 20 minutes south of Cincinnati OH.
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan procedures.
· Assemble equipment and resources.
· Perform upgrades (e.g., change out transformers, busses, regulators, OCR’s, insulators).
· Troubleshoot distribution substations and repair/replace faulty components.
· Ensure proper installation of mobile substation following check-off list.
· Direct and coordinate all electrical and mechanical tests on all substation equipment.
· Assist with the training and development of assigned staff; monitor employee performance and make recommendations for improvements.
· Ensure that all OSHA and East Kentucky Power safety regulations are adhered to; ensure the proper use of all safety equipment.
· Formulate techniques to simplify work methods, reduce cost, improve results, promote safety, etc., and monitors the implementation and effectiveness.
· Ensure the proper installation, testing, calibration and troubleshooting of all OCR controls, distribution SCADA, fiber-optic systems, and OCB controls.

Key Requirements:
Education
· High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in a related area or formal electronics technical training preferred.
Experience
· Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with electronic components and electrical related applications. The majority of this experience in a leadership capacity is preferred.
Skills/Abilities
· Knowledge of switching procedures for energized substations.
· Ability to lead and direct others.
Working Conditions
· Must maintain a valid driver’s license. CDL license required within six (6) months of employment.
· On-call position; required to carry a company provided pager/cell phone and respond to trouble call on weekends, holidays, and after hours.
· Overnight travel and non-scheduled overtime a normal part of the job.
· Work in and around energized facilities.
· Regular lifting up to 100lbs. and occasional lifting over 100 lbs.
· Regular climbing and working at heights on ladders and stairs and occasional climbing and working at heights on structures.
· Must live within 30 minutes of the ServiceCenter or other previously agreed upon location within the service territory.
