DESCRIPTION: In this entry level Distribution Planning position, the Junior Distribution Planner will work closely with Work Leaders to analyze the electrical distribution system and facilitate improvements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
• Determine the winter and summer peak loading on substations and 25 kV distribution feeders
• Maintain historical loading data and update future loading predictions for substations and feeders
• Extract data from the mapping system, create base case electrical models, and complete distribution feeder assessments
• Utilize modeling tool to analyze electrical system and find solutions to potential problems
• Outline scope of work, estimate, and justification for system improvement and capacity increase projects
• Meet with local Operations staff to review all projects and discuss local concerns
• Maintain communication with Distribution Project Design group to facilitate accurate and timely delivery of projects
• Develop and update area plans
• Review and update franchise plans for urban areas
• Provide assistance in discussions with Cities, Towns, Municipalities, and Counties
• As required, support the Customer Planning team by performing electrical distribution modeling to determine the impact of the proposed new customer loads

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Completion of an Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with an AM/FM mapping system
• Experience with electrical distribution system analysis programs (ie. CYMDIST)
