This is a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) safety-sensitive position under the Department of Transportation (DOT) CMV Drug-Free Workplace Act and is subject to: post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, periodic, and pre-employment alcohol/controlled substance testing. NATURE OF WORK:
Assist Substation Maintenance Electricians in the maintenance of all substation equipment. Work under the direction of an Electrician I on a two or three person crew maintaining substation equipment or other assigned duties as necessary.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work with crews maintaining all substation equipment under leadership of Electrician I.
  • Assist crew in HV & LV switching activities.
  • Review job assignments and safety procedures each morning with Electrician I.
  • Assist in preparing vehicle for next assignment with tools and equipment.
  • Help ensure all job-related equipment needs, crew needs, etc. are met. (i.e. tools, trucks, parts, etc.)
  • Check Truck Stock and ensure assigned tools and materials are on vehicle.
  • Review training and requirements for Electrician III and prepare for promotional assessments.
  • Study Safe Work Practice manual.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in mechanics, hydraulics and electricity in substation maintenance.
  • Must be able to comprehend instruction manuals and participate in electrical training.
  • Ability to read schematic and wiring diagrams.
  • CDL Class “B” License required.
  • Must have an understanding of AC & DC electrical principles and good mechanical skills. Employee will be required to complete Training Manual demonstrating
  • Electrical/Mechanical abilities, Reading Comprehension, Memory Retention and ability to organize tasks by self.
  • Ability to work in small groups under extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather).
  • Have demonstrated mechanical skills.
  • Must have good driving record.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be available for after hours and weekend work and respond to emergency call-out as needed.
  • Must not have a fear of heights or working in confined spaces.
