Established in 1911, the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) is the nation's largest irrigation district and serves one of the fastest-growing regions in the West. IID provides the Imperial Valley with water and energy and is now seeking a Chief Electrical Engineer. The Chief Electrical Engineer is expected to exercise a high level of technical expertise; prepare and present oral and written reports for District Management and the Board of Directors; develop budgets and monitor expenditures; and direct the overall planning, development, organization, and administration of the assigned areas.
This position requires the management experience necessary to provide clear direction to staff and to develop systems to measure performance and ensure accountability. Prior budgetary and financial management experiences are essential, and this position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate's honesty, integrity, and credibility are of high priority to the District. The ideal candidate should possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and ten years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in the operation of power engineering, power management and construction, project management, and planning with a power utility. The salary for the Chief Electrical Engineer is $128,123-$163,522, with a 5% range increase planned in January 2011; placement within the range is dependent upon qualifications.
