Title: CADD Operator - Electrical/Telecom
Number of Positions: more than 1 regular position

Business Unit: Engineering & Construction Services - Telecom Engineering
General Accountabilities:
• Work from scope of information and data provided, prepare drawings, diagrams, and charts, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems, for Stations, Lines, and associated installations relating to Transmission, Distribution and Telecom facilities.
• Apply general drafting standards and check completed drawings to ensure they meet required standards.
Selection Criteria
Essential Competencies:
• Must be able to work well with others.
• Must be familiar with general equipment that pertains to Lines and Transformer stations.
• Must be efficient and knowledgeable in the use of AutoCAD and Meridian.
Essential Knowledge:
• Requires a knowledge of electrical and/or telecom drafting principles to prepare drawings for the purpose of design, procurement, construction, operations and/or maintenance associated with the type of work being undertaken.
• Requires knowledge of computer-aided drafting systems (CAD) to be able to prepare lines/stations maps or drawings.
• Requires knowledge of English to be able to communicate effectively with others.
• This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of Grade XII in a Secondary, Commercial or Technical school or by having the equivalent level of education.
Essential Experience:
• Requires experience performing general electrical and telecom drafting and usage of CAD to understand drafting relationships and to gain proficiency in the application of the fundamental skills and use of drafting equipment.
• Requires experience to understand the types of drawings involved, terminology, associated calculations, relationships between groups and applicable drafting standards or by having the equivalent level of education.
• Requires experience to understand associated drawings, to learn the sources of technical data and the application of standard assemblies and methods.
• Requires an understanding of the interrelationships between drawings, the varying requirements of engineering sketches and instructions, and the proficient utilization of standards and other sources of technical data to be used.
• Requires experience in checking drawings prepared by others and in the use of computerized techniques and systems used in the production of drawings.
• A period of up to six years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
